The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) estimates that U.S. manufacturers will face a deficit of 10 million workers by 2020. There is a person turning 60 years of age every seven seconds in the United States, and in three years, 40 percent of the existing workforce will reach retirement age (Fortune Magazine, July 2006). According to the Employment Policy Foundation, if current population trends continue, the number of workers will only increase by 23 million nationwide, thus creating a 35 million worker shortage.
Not so in the Rio South Texas region. The population is young and becoming increasingly educated. Rio South Texas can fill the need for skilled workers of the future.
